Obituary for Wanita F. Stuemke

Wanita F. Stuemke, 70, of Altamont, died at 6:48 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

A private family funeral service will be held at Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont with Rev. Marcus Manley officiating. A committal service and burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Altamont. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date and will be publicized. Memorials may be to the Kidney Foundation, Zion Lutheran Church or Worship Anew.

Wanita Faye Bartimus was born on Wednesday, November 23, 1949 in rural Beecher City, IL to Murl and Elsie (Kirby) Bartimus. She married Herbert C. Stuemke on November 24, 1968. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Altamont where she was active with the Ladies Aid and LWML. Past member of Springhill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was the secretary for the family farm and business for many years.

She is survived by her husband of over 51 years, Herb Stuemke of Altamont; her children Ellie (Jim) Buennemeyer of Shumway, John (Heidi) Stuemke of Altamont, and Annette (Rick) Trigleth of Altamont; and 18 Grandchildren, Andrew Graumenz, Maelee (James) Phillips, Matthew Buennemeyer and Justin Buennemeyer, Haileigh Verdeyen, Katie Verdeyen, Wyatt Verdeyen, Dylan Verdeyen, Dustyn Stuemke, Brooke Stuemke, Kelli Stuemke, Tristan Rhodes, Jakob Rhodes, Waylan Stuemke, Jacob Trigleth, Kyle Trigleth, Cole (Hannah) Stuemke, Cameron (Rebecca Klein ) Stuemke; 4 great grandchildren, Ethan Phillips, Draven Verdeyen, Savannah Lowry, and Liam Stuemke; sister, Judy (Art) Trost of Altamont; brothers-in-law, Sam (Judy) Stuemke of Altamont and Dave (Elda) Stuemke of Altamont; sister-in-law, Doris (Earl) Mueller of Effingham; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Wanita was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul Von Bartimus; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Paul and Helen Stuemke; and son-in-law, David Graumenz.
